My Favourite Football Player

My Favourite Football Player

My Favourite Football Player is Sir Bobby Charlton. He was born in Ashington, Northumberland, the Charlton family had football in its blood. Three of his uncles played for Leeds United and his mother's cousin was the Newcastle United legend, Jackie Milburn. In 1953 he was signed by Manchester United aged just 17 and would go on to spend the next 17 years at Old Trafford. He played in England National and Manchester United Football club. In the team, First he played Left wing position but he was happier in Midfield position. He was named footballer of the year in 1966 after England 's success in the World cup againts German. The same year, he wasnamed European Footballer of the year. He was United 's captain in their first European Cup triumph in 1968. He played in a football circle about 20 years. During he played at Manchester United football club, he scored 199 goals in the league. While his 106 caps were eventually surpassed his total of 49 goals for England still remains a record to this day and is unlikely ever to be topped. Having finished his career with Manchester United in 1973 he became manager of Preston North End, but unlike his brother, introvert Bobby was not suited to management and resigned after the club were relegated in 1975. He later worked as director of Wigan Athletic, and in 1984 was appointed as a director of Manchester United. Bobby was awarded a CBE in 1974 and a knighthood in 1994.

Today, he works as an ambassador for football in his role as a director at United. A true role model for any aspiring footballer, a modest man of great integrity, Bobby Charlton is respected throughout the world as one of England's greatest ever sportsmen and a Manchester United legend.

The reason that I like Sir Bobby Charlton, I think that he is a good example for me in order to succeed in my life. During he played in a football circle, He was fair play because he was never sent off the pitch. He made a lot of reputation to the country. So that he received the honour from Queen Elizabeth 2, So people in England call him Sir Booby Charlton

Now, He still works for England and World Football, and he watches Manchester United play as often as possible
